The Night Manager - 'Episode 2'

Bromance!
In an idyllic Spanish resort, Roper's girlfriend Jed goes through an almost entirely gratuitous dressing scene and talks to her disdainful white trash mother before heading to dinner with Roper and his son Daniel. Dinner is interrupted by armed robbers who kidnap Daniel, then we flash back:

Price agrees to be Angela Burgh's inside man and builds up his rep by punching a dude in the West Country and faking the murder of an undercover agent posing as a drug mule. Then he takes work as a chef at the restaurant and 'thwarts' the kidnappers (actually more agents, working for American anti-arms trade specialist Joel Steadman, played by the ubiquitous and not-American David Harewood,) in order to get in with Roper. He takes a severe beating and is taken back to Roper's villa, where Corkoran gets suspicious of this chance meeting.

That's about it for the plot in this episode, which is mostly about Price establishing his legend. Honestly, it all seems a bit thin, and I'm not sure stealing from a Swiss hotel and muscling in on the drug trade in a small town in Devon qualifies one for the title 'second worst man in the world'. Then again, as worst men in the world go, Roper is pretty tame so far. Yes, he's a grasping arms dealer, but he seems a good father and no worse than the 'good guys' with their machinations and manipulations.
